Second workshop in the Horizon 2020 project COCOP
In the period from 22 November 2016 to 24 November 2016, the second workshop of the Horizon 2020 project COCOP was carried out in Finland. In the Reseach Center of Outotec Oy in Pori, the working group “Use-Case Copper” discussed the production of copper as well as the requirements of the use case “Copper” for coordinated optimization, the core of the COCOP project. The BFI is represented in this group to provide its expertise in the process industry and to increase its experience in non-ferrous metals.
On the second day, the group visited the Harjavalta factory of the Finnish copper producer BOLIDEN. The core process with the flash melting furnace at a central location as well as the casting of the copper anodes and the further process chain were explained.
On the third day, the Tampere University of Technology, the coordinator of the project, worked on the findings of the first two days at the same location and carried out the first steps towards a holistic solution.
