Melting test stand

 Ternary system of chromium slag

 Chromium content of the slag

Foaming trials at an electric arc furnace

Situation
• Slag foaming technology is unsuitable for the production of high-alloy
• special steels because of unfavourable slag chemistry.
• High heat losses, high refractory and electrode consumption
Reduced chromium yield due to high chromium oxidising loss

BFI solutions
• Selection of specific additives for slag correction on the basis of
  thermochemical equilibrium computations
• Conditioning of the slag through the addition of reductants
• Use of conventional and alternative foaming gas forming agents

Our services and facilities
• Thermochemical equilibrium computations (Factsage)
• Melting, reduction and foaming tests
• High-temperature furnace (oxidising or reducing atmosphere,
  protective gas atmosphere)
• Analytical laboratory
• Mobile injection apparatus for field testing
