Continuous slab caster in operation

Experimental model set-up including tundish and mould of a thin slab caster

Situation
• The methods and processes used in the manufacture of metal products
have to keep pace with constant demands to improve productivity and
   product quality
• This also applies particularly to those process stages in which the
   liquid molten metal is treated.
• Any investigation of the flow conditions in metallurgical reactors is,
if at all possible, very time-, effort and money-consuming.

Our services
• On-site systematic analysis of process, plant and equipment
• Conduct of model experiments in a modern fluid flow laboratory
• Numerical flow simulation by means of CFD
• Realisation of design- and process-related measures to optimise the flow
  conditions for e.g.:
  > ironmaking
  > primary steelmaking
  > secondary steelmaking
  > continuous casting
  > foundry casting of iron and steel
  > manufacture of NE metal products

Operational benefits
• Swift and cost-effective solution of defined problems
• Boosting of plant and equipment efficiency
• Improvement of product quality
• Increase in yield
