Situation
Lack of measurement data for the sub-processes taking place within blast furnaces:
• Gas circulation (permeability)
• Temperature distribution
• Reduction

Solution

Mathematical process models for:
• Mass balance, heat balance, flame temperature
• Minimum fuel rate, based on two-stage balance
• Burden layer gas circulation (permeability), heat transfer between
   gas and solid, chemical reactions
• Intelligent evaluation of measurement data trends and calculation of indices
for the assessment of process situations

Benefits
• Compact online image of ongoing blast furnace process
• Early detection of gas circulation problems
• Improved programming of the burden layers
