Situation
• Heating furnaces operated with unnecessarily high excess of air
• Elevated energy consumption
• Heightened scale formation
• Increased surface decarburisation
• No knowledge of the actual combustion gas composition in the heating
  furnace

Solution
• Continuous combustion gas analysis
• Model-based, closed-loop control of air factor
• Special measuring technique to analyse O2 content near to stock material
  surface

Benefits
• Reduction of oxygen content by 1.5 % in a heating furnace with a
  throughput of 450 t/h
  > Energy saving of 2.4 %
     >> Financial saving: 350,000 €/year
  > Scale reduction of 20 %
     >> Financial saving: 1.1 mill. €/year
• Monitoring of CO formation in the waste gas
