On-line temperature control

Situation
• The temperature of melts is measured with the aid of immersing type
   thermocouples.
• Monitoring of the melt temperature on-line is difficult.
• Restricted possibilities of measurement during metallurgical processes
  (e.g. converters).
• Selective process control is made more difficult.

Solution
Continuous monitoring of the melt temperature through direct optical measurement by means of consumable optical fibres
• Very fast response times through optical measurement
• No influence exerted by surface and slag layer
• No ageing of the optical waveguide, as it is fed-in continuously.

Operational use and benefits
• Continuous temperature measurement data, also during the process
• Flexible use at metallurgical vessels throughout the process chain
• Measurement-data-based on-line process control
