Within the field of "Quality and Information Technologies" the BFI concerns itself with the quality-oriented optimisation of industrial processes and process chains on the basis of extensive sampling of measured process and quality data. Attention in this regard consequently focuses not on analytical knowledge of how the processes function, but on the supposition that it is possible to describe equip-ment and process behaviour by means of its measurable in- and output parameters. The department's activities in this field cover the following topics:
- Quality assurance, incl. diagnosis of quality non-conformance
- Prediction and control of quality
- Yield management
- Process monitoring
- Process control
A central aspect of the work in the past few years has, in particular, been the application of data min-ing methods in relation to technical processes, e.g. for diagnosing quality non-conformance, in which respect also advanced information technology methods, such as from the field of computational intelli-gence, are being put to use. The links to some of the work topics and projects, provided on the left, are intended to give an initial insight into the activities undertaken by the department. In case of any que-ries, please feel free to contact us.
