The different evaluation methods and functions developed during the last years at BFI are added into one software tool. DataSIS facilitates the simple and fast generation of expressive evaluations related to single coil/strip data as well as for coil pool data. Therefore it is an indispensable tool for the trans- parent presentation of SIS-data. This is a fundamental prerequisite for the determination of actual surface quality, the monitoring of SIS-performance, the optimisation of complex SIS-systems and the process optimisation.
DataSIS includes:

  • Plausibility check of data
  • Strip- or sheet-related evaluations
  • Flexible segmentation of strips/coils
  • Consideration of seam
  • Different methods for defect aggregation
  • Flexible interface to SIS-archives

Coil pool evaluations are necessary for:

  • Basis for coil-grading
  • Transparency in SIS mass data archives
  • Tracking of actual product quality
  • Monitoring of SIS performance
  • Supplier independent data interface
  • Detection and filtering of implausible data
  • Practice relevant evaluations for quality departments as well as for SIS-experts
  • valuation of long-term inspection periods, e.g. monthly or yearly production
  • Preparation of SIS data for correlation analysis with process data (see separate data sheet for  DataTools!)
  • Building of so-called post-classification rules

Using DataSIS you can find answers to questions like:

  • How do I have to define good, medium and poor quality?
  • How strong was the defect occurrence of month June compared to the 6 month before?
  • Is the defect occurrence dependent on the type of material or dependent on the strip thickness?
  • Do the defects appear periodically?


Results are represented graphically, calculated values can be rewritten into the data base.
