The BFI reestablishes itself
As a research and development partner to the process industry, especially the steel industry, the BFI stands for applied top research, which will focus on the 4 fields of competence: energy efficiency, industry 4.0 & measurement technology, circular economy and process optimization. With this clear commitment, the institute takes account of the dynamic development of the research topics and is consistently oriented along the current and future challenges. In order to support this process of change as far as possible, the Institute will be managed by two managing directors in the future. The BFI is pleased to have found a new management team with Prof. Dr. Harald Peters and Dr. Thorsten Voß, whereby Prof. Dr. Peters is responsible for the technical-scientific and Dr. Voß the commercial and administrative area. Prof. Peters is a longtime member of the management and division and will focus both for the reorientation of the research portfolio as well as for contacts with industry and research partners, while Dr. Voß brings his more than 10 years of experience from the research management of Forschungszentrum Jülich and business unit manager “third party and technology transfer”. Both will follow Prof. Dr. Ralph Sievering, who is gone into retirement from the BFI in mid-2017.
