TransZeroWaste: Project meeting in Valencia
The first periodic report meeting for the TransZeroWaste project took place on 11. and 12. of September 2024 at CEINNMAT in Valencia, where the current results of the different work packages have been presented and discussed with the EU project officer and an external expert. In this frame, two pilot plants for the microwave treatment of residues were visited. Many thanks to all colleagues for the outstanding cooperation and to our host Dr. Angel Lopez from CEINNMAT for a great event!
In the project TransZeroWaste, BFI is focussing on the preparation of iron containing materials, as low-quality irons ores, oily scale and further materials as mandatory step before a metallurgical reuse in direct reduction plants. Three different approaches as the hot pelletisation with microwaves, cold pelletisation and briquetting and the hydrometallurgical treatment for the removal of disturbing impurities as oil and grease will be investigated as low carbon treatment methods.
