METACAST - Mapping, Educating, Training, Applying models in continuous CASTing

- Initial situation:

Modelling is a strategic tool for the success of all activities tackling the challenges of the steel industry

Lack of a common language and “big picture” regarding the use of numerical modelling to address problems by engineers/researchers dedicated to modelling

Project targets:

  • Development of a comprehensive view of numerical modelling in continuous casting
  • Dissemination, awareness-raising, communication, networking and a particular emphasis on open-access online training

Benefits for the industry:

  • Creation of a common background on modelling to maximise its impact at the industrial environmental and socioeconomic levels
  • Access to models and experts for an enhanced applicability and us of results in the steel industry. 
  • A common basis for numerical modelling of continuous casting in Europe
