Stirring process monitoring

Goals:

  • Monitoring and optimum control of ladle stirring in secondary metallurgy
  • Information on the amount of stirring gas actually available for the metallurgical work in the ladle
  • Monitoring of previously inaccessible process parameters during the ongoing process, e.g. in a ladle furnace or vacuum unit
  • Evaluation of the stirring efficiency to ensure and improve the quality of melt and final product

Our portfolio:

The BFI stirring process monitoring determines new online control variable from an evaluation of the open eye size on the bath surface:

  • Online detection of the size and contour length of the open eye,
  • Determining the intensity of the bath movement, the degree of coverage with slag, the function of the stirring plug and the temperature loss of the melt,
  • Combination of the innovative online measurement variables with a dynamic process model for optimized process control (minimization of the treatment duration, control of the stirring gas flow rate, avoiding slag slopping),
  • Detection of splashes in the pressure reduction phase during vacuum treatment,
  • Increased process safety and energy savings.
