Kick-Off-Meeting METACAST
The kick-off-meeting for the dissemination project "Mapping, Educating, Training, Applying models in continuous CASTing“ (METACAST) took place on 21st and 22nd of October 2024 in Rome. METACAST intends to develop a comprehensive view of numerical modelling in continuous casting and to offer it to the European steel community, including all the stakeholders from the top managers of steelmaking companies to the researchers and students in universities. To create this comprehensive view, numerical modelling will be addressed from three main points of view: fundamental research, industrial application and decision making, since knowledge (from research and academia) and know-how (from industrial practice and applied research) have to merge to create a solid modelling culture throughout the whole steel community. METACAST consists of dissemination, awareness-raising, communication, networking, and a particular emphasis on open-access online training and learning reinforcement activities. The creation of a common background on modelling is the key to maximising its impact at the industrial, environmental, and socio-economic levels.
Further project partners besides BFI are Rina Consulting - Centro Sviluppo Materiali (CSM) as coordinator, K1-MET, SIDENOR I+D and SWERIM.
The project is funded by the Research Fund for Coal and Steel of the European Union (RFCS-Grant Agreement No101155952)
