Comprehensive Upgrade of the Two-Cylinder Hot-Wear Test Rig

With a comprehensive upgrade of our Two-Cylinder Hot-Wear Test Rig (2ZRH), we are setting another milestone in the investigation of pick-up behaviour under realistic furnace conditions. Thanks to an optimised atmosphere management system, we can now generate precisely controlled oxygen concentrations as well as variable atmospheres consisting of nitrogen, water vapor, and carbon dioxide - an essential step toward reproducible results.

Furthermore, electromechanical lifting cylinders have been integrated, which can be fully controlled via the system’s PLC, enabling forces, positions, and motion sequences to be adjusted with high precision and repeatability. Customised pyrometer measurements and an integrated industrial camera ensure significantly improved temperature acquisition and precise visual documentation.

✅ With these modernisations, we achieve a realistic thermo-mechanical simulation of components such as rolls used in industrial furnace systems.
