NickelRück – Recovery of nickel from process waters of phosphating

Initial situation:
- Processes and waste water containing nickel are produced during the phosphating of steels.
- Seizure of phosphating sludge after the addition of chemicals in waste water treatment.
- Sewage must comply with discharge criteria.
Working topics:
- Model development for metal extraction.
- Investigation of innovative membrane materials.
- Selection of the optimal membrane contactor and a suitable extraction agent.
- Operational tests for the development of a process concept for nickel recovery.
Results:
- Recovery of nickel from process waters of the phosphating of steels.
- Minimization of fresh water requirements and compliance with waste water limits.
- Development of a technology based on innovative membrane contactors.
